ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Northwestern couldn't overcome a slow start at Michigan in a 3-1 defeat on Sunday afternoon in Ann Arbor.
The Wolverines scored early in the second minute and added a second in the 25th minute on a defensive miscommunication. After another in the 53rd minute, Northwestern did its best to chase the game given the circumstances.
Sophomore Justin Weiss pegged one back in the 82nd minute on a belter from over 25 yards out. The goal was his team-best third of the season, giving him eight points.
Michigan improved to 4-4-1 with the win while the Wildcats dropped to 2-5-2. They will have two big chances for redemption this weekend at home, hosting DePaul in a Chicago Derby on Wednesday night and Ohio State on Sunday afternoon.
