EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern puts its three-game win streak to the test on Sunday at Iowa in the Big Ten opener. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. CT from Iowa City and will be streamed on B1G+.

The Wildcats last three wins in a row have come against Kent State, Illinois State and DePaul. They improved to 4-3 to finish the non-conference slate despite playing just two out of seven games at home. The schedule has been road heavy this season, with the first three games of the Big Ten schedule all taking place on the road.

The Hawkeyes are an impressive 6-1-1 heading into Big Ten play, with their lone loss against Kansas. They boast impressive wins over Saint Louis and Iowa State, and defeated DePaul, the only common opponent with Northwestern, by a 2-1 scoreline.

Northwestern is coming off a 1-0 shutout against DePaul, its second of the season. Iowa has recorded four clean sheets of its own and its goals-against-average of 0.50 ranks fourth in the Big Ten.

Sophomore midfielder Josie Aulicino scored the winner against the Blue Demons to continue her scorching hot run of form. She has now scored in three straight games and has amassed four goals and six assists on the season for 14 points. She is tied for the most assists in the Big Ten and leads the conference outright in assists per game. She ranks 13th and 11th nationally in those categories, respectively. She ranks third in the Big Ten in points and 34th in the country, while her three game winning goals (DePaul, Illinois State, William & Mary) lead the Big Ten and rank fourth nationally. Aulicino has scored or assisted on the last eight Northwestern goals, including all six in the last three games. She leads the Northwestern offense with 12 shots.

In addition to Aulicino's supernova status, the Wildcats have built a diversified attack with three other players registering multiple goal contributions on the season: graduate midfielder Regan Steigelder, junior forward Aurea Martin and sophomore forward Meg Boade. Most recently, Boade assisted Aulicino's game winner in overtime at Illinois State. Overall, seven different Wildcats have combined to score 12 goals for Northwestern.

The Hawkeye offense is led by Alyssa Walker and Kenzie Roling, who each have four goals to their name. Iowa has scored 15 goals this season and scored two or more goals in five out of eight games.

Northwestern won last year's matchup against Iowa in Iowa City, 2-0. Olivia Stone scored the opener, and Steigleder scored the second with an assist from Aulicino. In a weird Big Ten scheduling quirk, the last five Northwestern-Iowa matchups have all taken place in Iowa City, with Northwestern owning a 4-0-1 record in those games. Current Wildcats Danika Austin and Reilly Riggs scored in 2019, while senior goalkeeper Mackenzie Wood made seven saves in a 1-1 draw in 2018.
