EVANSTON, Ill. — Northwestern women's volleyball head coach Shane Davis has announced the addition of volunteer coach Louis Richard to the Wildcats' staff.

Richard begins his collegiate coaching career at Northwestern after playing professionally in Denmark last year with Nordenskov UIF. A native of Los Angeles, Richard played four seasons (2015-19) at Long Beach State, where he helped the program to a pair of Big West Conference titles in 2017 and 2018 in addition to back-to-back national championships in 2018 and 2019.

While at Long Beach State, Richard saw action in 65 career matches. He posted a breakout campaign as a senior en route to the national championship, tallying career-best 131 kills (1.79 k/s) with a .308 hitting percentage. That season he earned the program's Dodge Parker "Ironman" award, given to the player(s) who went above and beyond what is required to be an ironman.

In addition to his success on the court with LBSU, Richard was a member of Academy United that claimed gold at the 2019 USA Volleyball Open Nationals. He earned a spot on the 2019 Open Nationals All-Tournament Team for his performance.
