Three Northwestern programs will be in action this weekend, headlined by postseason action for lacrosse and softball.

Lacrosse
After defeating Denver in the second round of the NCAA Tournament, the second-ranked Wildcats take on the No. 7 Duke Blue Devils in the quarterfinal round. Northwestern has defeated Duke in each of the last two seasons by a combined margin of five goals.

The 'Cats routed Denver in the second round, taking the match 19-4. Izzy Scane scored eight goals in the match setting the program record for goals in a single season in the process. Northwestern's 19 goals was the most scored against Denver this season.

The Wildcats are not strangers to the NCAA Quarterfinals, making the quarterfinal round 14 out of the last 16 seasons. Evanston hosted the quarterfinal in 2019. NU beat the Syracuse Orange in their home quarterfinal by a score of 18-14.

Softball
Northwestern Softball returns to their third straight NCAA Tournament appearance and the sixth of the last seven seasons. Last time out, the 'Cats moved on to the Super Regional round with two wins over Louisville and a win over Southern Illinois.

NU faces No. 14 Kentucky first in the Regional round of the NCAA Tournament, their second all-time matchup in program history. The game is scheduled for Friday at 11 a.m. CT and will be broadcast on ESPN2. Miami (OH) and Notre Dame also join the WIldcats in the Lexington Regional.

NU has advanced to the NCAA Regional final eight times under the Drohans, winning its region five times and making two trips to the Women's College World Series. Most recently in 2019, the Wildcats secured a Top-16 seed and advanced to their first NCAA Super Regional in 11 years after winning the Evanston Regional.

Morgan Newport is coming off a stellar Senior Weekend, earning her second Big Ten Player of the Week honor of the season. She reached base in every plate appearance in her last two games.

Baseball
NU hosts the Iowa Hawkeyes for a three-game series this weekend, their final homestand of the season. The first game of the series is scheduled for Friday at 1 p.m. CT and will be broadcast on the Big Ten Network.

Shawn Goosenberg has had the hot bat of late, sporting a six-game hitting streak. Goosenberg is 11 of his last 24 with a home run, two doubles, five runs and four RBI.
