"When the Game Gets Tough" - By Sydney Supple

Owning your story is the bravest thing you will ever do. While this weekend may not have gone how any of us expected, this is still our story and I will stand by us as we continue to write it…
"How do you respond when the game gets tough?"
That simple question was asked to each one of my teammates and me as we sat side by side for the first time since the series against Minnesota. I looked amongst twenty-one other faces and could see the question sink into our hearts and minds. The choice is ours and by the attitude with which I watched my team attack our following lift and practice, we are ready to respond.
Respond to the game, respond to the conference, respond to everyone following our journey, but most importantly respond to ourselves that when the game gets tough we will get tougher, period.
I have said it before in a previous blog but I want to say it again. I choose us every day. I choose us before every game no matter the opponent. I still choose us after every game, no matter what the scoreboard may say, because I know our fight and I know the work we have put in to prepare us for tough moments to fight back and to fight alongside your teammate.
Going forward, which is all we can do, expect to see twenty-two young women become a tougher version of ourselves than we have ever been before and it starts in Iowa this weekend.
Finally, if you are reading this, thank you for continuing to follow our journey through it all. The story of our season will continue to be one I am privileged to share with you after every series.
Now it's time to go get tougher….see you in Iowa, 'Cats!.
