Northwestern Powers Past Nebraska, 4-0

EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern won its second match in a row with 4-0 victory over Nebraska on Friday evening at the Combe Tennis Center. 

The Wildcats, ranked No. 29 in the country, improved to 4-3 overall and 3-2 in the Big Ten. Nebraska dropped to 0-4. 

The 'Cats saw wins at singles from Nick Brookes, Trice Pickens and Gleb Blekher. Northwestern clinched the doubles point at No. 1 and No. 2 thanks to the duos of Brookes and Simon Bratholm and Dominik Stary and Chris Ephron

Down a set in doubles, Brookes and Bratholm win 6-4 before Ephron and Stary outlasted Nebraska for a 7-5 win to clinch the point. 

Brookes finished quickly at No. 2, taking care of Brandon Perez, 6-3, 6-2. Blekher followed suit witha 6-2, 7-5 win at No. 6 over Nic Wiedenhorn. 

Pickens sealed the 4-0 sweep at No. 4 singles with a hard-fought 7-6, 6-4 win over William Gleason. Both Stary and Ephron were in a third set when the match was called, and Bratholm was up a set as well.

The Wildcats look to extend their winning streak to three games on Sunday when No. 32 Iowa visits Evanston. First serve is set for noon at the Combe Tennis Center.
