Northwestern Volleyball Team Announces Dig for Justice Efforts

EVANSTON, Ill. – On Friday, March 26th at 4 p.m., the Northwestern Volleyball program will Dig for Justice as the Wildcats host the Minnesota Golden Gophers at Welsh-Ryan Arena. The match is dedicated to honoring Black lives and bringing awareness to the Black Lives Matter movement. Friday's match will be televised live on the Big Ten Network.
As part of this Dig for Justice campaign, the Northwestern Volleyball program will be raising funds for two non-for-profit organizations, the Sports Shed and Urban Initiatives. The first 50 people to donate a minimum of $10 to each organization will receive a Dig for Justice T-Shirt.

The Sports Shed:
- The Sports Shed serves schools and non-profits in under resourced areas, mainly in the city of Chicago, who struggle to run athletic programs due to lack of funding. They are partnered with over 230 athletic programs. Youth sports are declining in urban areas because of the high cost of gear and disparity of resources. They also develop long term partnerships with programs so they can continually increase and improve athletic opportunities for thousands of kids who need a chance to compete.

- Urban Initiatives' programs empower students and unite communities. They provide two approaches to youth and community development: continuum of programming and culture and climate. Both approaches expand on the inherent power of sports to meet student and community needs.
