EVANSTON, Ill. — The Collegiate Sports Video Association named Darby Dunnagan, Director of Video Operations at Northwestern University, its 2020-2021 Big Ten Conference Video Coordinator of the Year.
Dunnagan was selected by her peers in the Big Ten to receive the Conference Video Coordinator of the Year honor. She is now a finalist for the prestigious Bob Matey National Video Coordinator of the Year award, which will be announced at the annual CSVA banquet on May 19, 2021, in San Antonio, Texas.
The Bob Matey Award award is presented to the Video Coordinator who displays innovation, determination, perseverance, and technical skill as portrayed by the late Bob Matey, legendary Video Coordinator from Texas A&M. Dunnagan won the prestigious honor in 2013, while at the University of Memphis.
After a six-year stint as video coordinator for the Memphis football program, Dunnagan joined Northwestern as the program's Director of Video Operations in July of 2013. In her role with the Wildcats, Dunnagan is responsible for the supervision of Northwestern's football video staff, coordinating recording of every practice and providing practice and opponent footage to the coaching staff. She also contributes to the football program's efforts related to shooting and editing post-production features on players and special events.
She maintained similar responsibilities at Memphis and assisted in the online streaming of various athletic competitions and events to the Tigers' athletic website. While at Memphis, Dunnagan was named the Conference USA Video Coordinator of the Year in 2010-11 and 2012-13, and the Bob Matey National Video Coordinator of the Year in 2013.
Dunnagan served two years as President of the Collegiate Sports Video Association beginning in May of 2018. She is currently operating in a post-president advisory role that will last until May of 2021 after serving as the Vice President from 2014 to 2018.
The Rural Retreat, Va., native worked two years as a graduate assistant in the video department at Marshall prior to Memphis, where she earned her master's degree in sports administration in May, 2007.
Dunnagan got her start in athletics at the University of Virginia while working on a bachelor's degree in anthropology and sociology. She was a student manager for the football team for two seasons before switching to the video department.
