This Week With the 'Cats, February 3
 
Northwestern University athletics will have six programs in action this weekend, headlined by the ITA Indoor National Championship for women's tennis, season-opening matches for fencing and Big Ten match play for men's golf. 
 
Women's Tennis
 
#13 Northwestern women's tennis will participate in the 34th annual ITA Division I National Women's Team Indoor Championship this weekend, a tournament comprised of eight teams ranked in the top 15 in the country. The Wildcats will take on #3 Texas in their opening match on Friday, Feb. 5 at 6:30 p.m. CT. If they advance, the 'Cats will square-off against the winner of #2 UCLA vs. #9 Oklahoma State in the semi-final match on Saturday, Feb. 6 at 6:30 p.m. CT. The championship will take place at 6:30 p.m. CT on Sunday, Feb. 7. 
 
The Wildcats are off to a 2-0 start to the season, defeating #7 North Carolina State and #16 Wake Forest at the ITA Kick-Off Weekend two weeks ago. Junior Clarissa Hand and sophomore Briana Crowley are both off to 2-0 starts to the season in individual play.

Fencing
 
Northwestern fencing kicks off their season at the OSU Invitational in Columbus, Ohio this weekend. The Wildcats finished last season ranked #8 in the nation with an overall record of 29-11. 
 
Returning to the team are junior Julia Falinska, named to the epee All-America first team, sophomore Anna Biasco, second team foil All-America, and senior Sarah Filby, foil All-America honorable mention. Blodwen Bindas, Emma Scala and Natalie Kim, members of last year's USFCA All-Midwest Region team, all return for the 2021 season as well.

Men's Golf
 
Men's golf returns to play this weekend after an exhibition match against Michigan State last Sunday for Big Ten match play in Palm Coast, Fla., their first official competition of the 2021 season. 

Twelve Big Ten men's golf teams are set to compete in the 2021 Big Ten Match Play Championship on Friday and Saturday. The event will be held at the Conservatory and Ocean courses at the Hammock Beach Resort in Palm Coast, Fla.
 
The 12 teams have been drawn into a single-elimination bracket, with the seeds determined using the Nov. 11, 2020, final fall Golfstat rankings. Each team match will consist of six individual matches. Play gets started on Friday morning with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. ET. No. 1 Northwestern, No. 2 Minnesota, No. 3 Purdue and No. 4 Penn State will each receive a first-round bye.
 
In Friday's afternoon session, beginning at 1 p.m. ET, top-ranked Northwestern will play the winner of the Maryland/Michigan State match, Minnesota will face the winner of the Indiana/Ohio State match, Purdue will take on the winner of Rutgers/Wisconsin and Penn State will take the course against the winner of Iowa/Nebraska.
 
On Saturday, the morning session (8 a.m. ET) features the championship semifinals and consolation semifinals, while Saturday afternoon concludes with the championship, third-, fifth- and seventh-place matches.
 
The Northwestern men's golf team won the Big Ten Match Play Championship last season. The win marked the Wildcats' fifth Big Ten Match Play Championship title, a conference record.

Women's Golf
 
Northwestern women's golf heads to Sarasota, Fla. this weekend for the Heroes Ladies Intercollegiate. The 'Cats are 1-0 on the season, defeating Ohio State 4-1 in the season opener on Jan. 16. Irene Kim, Kelly Sim, Jennifer Cai and Kelly Su are all 1-0 on the season after collecting wins over Ohio State.
 
Wrestling
 
Northwestern wrestling welcomes #9 Illinois to Welsh-Ryan arena on Sunday, Feb. 7 for an afternoon showdown, starting at 12 p.m. CT and streamed live on BTN+. 
 
The Wildcats fell to #4 Penn State and Indiana at last weekend's tri-dual. #13 Yahya Thomas picked up two more victories at 149 lbs. to move to 5-0 on the season, and #22 Chris Cannon also stayed unbeaten with a 12-10 decision vs. Indiana. #11 Lucas Davison also went undefeated on the weekend, earning bonus points in both of his matches to improve to 3-1 at 197 lbs. At 125 lbs Michael DeAugustino made his season debut with a win against Indiana, DeAugustino clocked in at #3 in this week's latest TrackWrestling rankings.

Swimming and Diving
 
Men's and women's swimming and diving heads to Madison, WI this weekend to take on both Wisconsin and Illinois. Both teams are 2-2 on the season and riding two-meet win streaks, having defeated Iowa and Penn State in Evanston two weekends ago. 

Cross Country (Indoor)
 
Northwestern's will have seven representatives competing at the 2021 Hoosier Hills Invite on Saturday, Feb. 6, in Bloomington, Indiana. Kalea Bartolotto, Emily Casaclang, Olivia Verbeke, Hallie DeVore and Kayla Fortino will run the mile, while Rachel McCardell and Elizabeth Bulat are set to compete in the 3000 meter. Action begins at 10 a.m. CT.
