Soccer Blanks Maryland for Second Win

'Cats take down Terps for first time since 2017 in rugged match
EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern picked up their second win of the young season on Sunday afternoon over the Maryland Terrapins. This is the Wildcat's first win over the Terps since the 2017 season.
The game was a physical one with 17 total fouls between the two teams. The 'Cats were on the offensive for the entire match, attempting 15 shots with six on goal. Olivia Stone put in the only goal of the game for the Wildcats, the first of her career. Stone had five shot attempts in the match, four of which were on target.
In minute 59 of the contest, first-year Josie Aulicino picked up her first career assist, dishing the ball to a sliding Olivia Stone who placed the ball in the bottom left corner of the net. Mackenzie Wood would later save two shots in the 72nd minute to ice the game for Northwestern.
The Wildcats are now 2-1 on the season with two 1-0 shutouts under their belts.
Chicago's Big Ten Team returns on Thursday to face the Minnesota Gophers.
