Volleyball Takes a Set off No. 11 Purdue

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind –. The Wildcats fell to the No. 11 Boilermakers 1-3 Saturday night in a well-fought match. The 'Cats were active at the net and their strong defensive performance forced Purdue into four sets.
After falling to the Boilermakers in the first match the 'Cats kept Purdue on their toes with a strong defensive pursuit at the start of the second set. Sophomore Charlotte Cronister picked up a career-high 12 digs while sophomore Temi Thomas-Ailara defended the net with a tied match-high five blocks.
The Wildcats' aggression on offense led them to a 25-22 second set victory and an overall competitive night at the net. Junior setter Kiara McNulty led her offense to success with 27 assists. The 'Cats offensive game was highlighted by a match-high 18 kills from sophomore Temi Thomas-Ailara and followed by 13 kills from redshirt sophomore Abryanna Cannon.
Senior Nia Robinson was the third Wildcat to score in the double digits, adding 11 kills to the stats sheet. Robinson's performance and energy kept the Wildcats competitive in both the third and fourth sets. In the third set, she was able to fire the team back up after finding a kill from a set from over her right shoulder.
Junior Libero Megan Miller remained a strong defensive weapon for the Wildcats. Her quick feet kept Northwestern in the game towards the end of the fourth set after she picked up an incredible dig to keep Northwestern's scoring streak alive. She finished the night with a career-high 14 digs.
The Wildcats will return home to take on the Iowa Hawkeyes, Friday, Feb 26 at 6 p.m.
