EVANSTON, Ill. – No. 21 Northwestern takes a three-game wining streak into its matchup against Rutgers on Thursday. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m. CT on Big Ten Network from Welsh-Ryan Arena.
The Wildcats were named ESPN Team of the Week by Mechelle Voepel after defeating No. 11 Ohio State, 69-57, and grinding out a 63-60 win at Michigan State last time out.
Despite season lows in FGMs and FGAs, the 'Cats found enough offense at the free throw line, with 37 FTAs, one shy of the program record set against Maryland on Dec. 31, 2019.
Veronica Burton was named to the Big Ten weekly honor roll for her efforts against the Buckeyes and Spartans. She leads the Big Ten in steals per game and assist-to-turnover ratio.
Northwestern leads the Big Ten in turnover margin, fewest personal fouls committed per game and total free throw attempts.
The Wildcats defeated Rutgers 82-65 last season in Evanston. Lindsey Pulliam posted 27 points, seven rebounds and five assists while Burton tallied 23 points, nine assists and five steals.
