The Wildcats are undefeated at home this season (5-0) after scoring a season-high 76 points against Delaware in a 76-53 win on Saturday. The 'Cats had four players with 12 points or more.
Without Sydney Wood, Lauryn Satterwhite and Jillian Brown, sophomore Jasmine McWilliams made her first career start while first year Melannie Daley made her second.
Junior Laya Hartman recorded career-highs across the board with 12 points, eight rebounds, four assists and a steal on 5-9 shooting and 2-4 from deep. She was a game-high +25 in 25 minutes.
Senior guard Veronica Burton was in total command against the Blue Hens, finishing with 17 points, six assists, five rebounds and four steals on 6-9 shooting.
Burton continues to lead the Big Ten in steals per game (3.8) and free throw percentage (92.6). She is up to second in the country in win shares with 4.6 and ranks seventh in WS per 40 min. (0.53), per Her Hoop Stats.
Northwestern holds a 5-4 advantage all-time against Milwaukee, but the Panthers won the last meeting, 66-57, in Evanston. The 'Cats won a classic, 65-63, in Milwaukee in 2016. The Panthers erased an eight-point deficit in the final minute to tie the game with 12 seconds only for Nia Coffey to sink go-ahead free throws.
