EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern returns to nonconference play on Saturday when it hosts Delaware at Welsh-Ryan Arena. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. CT and will be streamed on B1G+.

The Wildcats opened their Big Ten campaign with a 61-49 win over Wisconsin last Sunday. The 'Cats held the Badgers under 50 points and forced 23 turnovers.

Senior guard Veronica Burton finished with 19 points, six assists, four steals and two blocks, while going 12-12 from the FT line. It ties the second most makes without a miss from the line in program history, a feat she previously accomplished against Illinois in February of 2021.

Burton ranks third nationally in win shares with 4.1 per Her Hoop Stats. She is the only player in the country to average 15 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and at least a steal and block per game.

Only eight players nationally are clearing those averages in points-rebounds-assists, including Paige Bueckers (UConn) and Caitlin Clark (Iowa).

First-year guard Melannie Daley made her first career start against the Badgers in the absence of Sydney Wood and Lauryn Satterwhite and finished with six points, three rebounds and three assists.

Northwestern meets Delaware for the first time. The 'Cats last matchup against a CAA team was against James Madison in the WNIT semifinal in 2019, a 74-69 win.
