EVANSTON, Ill. — Northwestern scored 14 points at home Saturday, but it wasn't enough against the Golden Gophers.

Making his first appearance since going out with an injury against Duke, Andrew Marty stepped in under center and gave the Northwestern offense a boost in his first drive back, taking the 'Cats 75 yards down the field over 11 plays. Marty capped the drive with a six-yard touchdown pass to Evan Hull, the running back's first collegiate receiving touchdown.

Hull made a statement on the ground again, piling up 107 yards on 15 carries in addition to three catches for 15 yards and the touchdown. The sophomore is currently averaging 6.47 yards per carry on the season, on pace for second all time in Wildcat history behind Damien Anderson's 6.63 yards per carry in 2000. He also ripped off another 30 yard rush, his fifth of 30 or more and sixth over 20 yards.

The Northwestern defense locked down the Minnesota passing game, allowing 134 yards and no touchdowns through the air while forcing a Tanner Morgan interception when Coco Azema deflected the ball into Brandon Joseph's hands in the end zone. It marked Joseph's second pick of the year. The 'Cats also held star Minnesota receiver Chirs Autman-Bell to just one catch. He has never caught more than one ball in three career games against Northwestern.

Chicago's Big Ten Team returns to Ryan Field next Saturday to take on No. 9 Iowa.
