EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern faces No. 18 Purdue in its penultimate game of the Big Ten regular season on Thursday night in West Lafayette. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. CT and will be streamed on Big Ten Network.
The Wildcats are 7-7-1 overall and 3-4-1 in the Big Ten, coming off three narrow 1-0 defreats they were unlucky to take a result from. The 18th ranked Boilermakers are 11-3-2 overall with a 6-2-0 record in the Big Ten, both program-bests since the 2007 season. They are coming off.a 2-1 loss to Penn State.
The 'Cats split the series with Purdue last season, falling 1-0 in the regular season but winning 1-0 in the first round of the Big Ten Regional Weekend behind a penalty kick goal from Regan Steigleder and a shutout from Mackenzie Wood.
The Wildcats are 1-1 this season against ranked opponents, defeating No. 12 Penn State 2-1 and falling to No. 2 North Carolina 2-0.
Northwestern will have to content with red-hot forward Sarah Griffith, who ranks fourth nationally with 13 goals this season. She has scored in seven consecutive matches, the longest goal streak in Purdue history, with eight goals in that stretch.
Goalkeeper Marisa Bova is also having a strong season, ranking second in the Big Ten in save percentage with a mark of .842.
