EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern continues its three-game homestand on Sunday when it hosts Nebraska looking to continue its climb up the Big Ten standings. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. CT and will be streamed on B1G+.

The Wildcats are coming off a thrilling 1-0 win on Thursday night in front of a historic crowd at Martin Stadium. Graduate midfielder Regan Steigleder headed home a corner kick from sophomore Josie Aulicino with just over one minute to play in regulation for the win. Over 1200 fans were in attendance, the most at a home game since 2012.

The win propelled the Wildcats to a six-way tie for third place in the Big Ten with seven points through four matches (2-1-1, 6-4-1 overall). The 'Cats will take on 12th place Nebraska, with two points in four B1G contests and a 4-6-2 record overall. The Huskers still boast a top-100 RPI and played Rutgers, ranked top ten nationally, to a close 1-0 defeat a week ago. The 'Cats entered the week at No. 64 in the RPI and a win on Sunday would propel them closer to a top-50 spot.

On Thursday, Aulcino recorded her seventh assist of the season, the most in the Big Ten and the 19th most in the country. Aulicino is now tied for the seventh most assists in a season in program history, and one off of Orlando Pride midfielder Marisa Viggiano's tally of eight in her outstanding 2017 campaign.

Aulicino is tied for the third most points in the Big Ten with 17, a total that also ties for the 11th most in a season in program history. She is two points off of Brenna Lovera's senior season total of 19, coming on eight goals and three assists.

Aulicino continues to lead the Big Ten with four game-winning goals, which is tied for the second most in a single season with four other Wildcat camapigns in program history, including Lovera's 2016 sophomore season.

The game winner on Thursday was Steigleder's 10th career goal. She becomes the fourth player under Michael Moynihan to score double digit career goals after Lovera, Addie Steiner and Niki Sebo, and while she is in her fifth season, she has accomplished the feat as a central midfielder.

Steigleder has appeared in 80 career games, tied for the fourth most in program history with Hannah Davison, Steigleder's teammate from the 2017 and 2018 seasons. Her appearance on Thursday allowed her to surpass Jenny Dunn (2005-08) and Kassidy Gorman (2014-17) with 79. Steigleder now trails three of her former teammates in career appearances: Viggiano with 82, Kayla Sharples with 87 and Lauren Clem with 89.

Senior goalkeeper Mackenzie Wood made six saves for the shutout on Thursday. It was her third of the season and 19th of her career, which is now tied for the second most all time with Wendy Scholz (1994-97). Wood has made 233 saves in her career, the fourth most in program history.

In 2021, the Wildcats are averaging 1.55 goals per game, the most under Michael Moynihan since at least 2014. Nebraska heads into Sunday's contest averaging 1.50 goals per game with an offense led by sophomore forward Regan Raabe with six goals.

Northwestern is undefeated against Nebraska in their last five matchups and have won the last three, including a 4-0 win in the spring in Evanston. Steigleder scored one while current junior Aurea Martin captured a brace.

Nebraska has not scored against Northwestern since 2015 in a streak that has lasted 565 minutes.
