EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern mounted pressure in the second half, but fell 1-0 to Minnesota at Martin Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The Wildcats dropped to 7-7-1 on the season and 3-4-1 in the Big Ten. Minnesota improved to 8-4-3 and 4-4 in conference.
Northwestern's best chance to the tie the game in the second half came from a header from Olivia Stone in the final 15 minutes that zipped just wide of goal.
Goalkeeper Mackenzie Wood made three saves.
The Wildcats have two games left in the Big Ten regular season, starting with a tricky trip to Purdue on Thursday. The Boilermakers are ranked No. 18 in the country.
Kickoff in West Lafayette is set for 7 p.m. CT on Big Ten Network.
