EVANSTON, Ill. – No. 22 Northwestern faces a stern test when Iowa comes to Evanston on Saturday for a high-profile clash on Big Ten Network. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. CT at Welsh-Ryan Arena.
Northwestern owns a 5-2 record (3-2 B1G) and sits at No. 31 in the NET rankings. Iowa (8-1, 4-1 B1G) comes in at No. 33 in the NET rankings and in fourth place in the Big Ten.
The Wildcats bounced back from a rare losing streak with a 80-55 rout of Wisconsin on the road Wednesday. The 'Cats shot 50% from the field, and a season high 44% from deep (7-16).
Four players scored in double figures, led by Veronica Burton and Courtney Shaw who both nearly posted double doubles with 15 points and nine rebounds.
Seneior guard Lindsey Pulliam was named to the Wooden Award Midseason Top 25 on Wednesday, and was one of four Big Ten Players to crack the list. She is averaging 14.6 points per game and has scored in double digits in all seven contests.
Northwestern is posting one of the best ball control seasons in NCAA history. Its turnover margin of +13.8 leads the country and would top the season-ending leaderboard dating back to at least 2010-11. Only six teams in the last 10 years have posted a turnover margin above +10.0.
Additionally, the team's assist-to-turnover ratio of 1.74 leads the country. The team finished fourth nationally in that statistic last season.
Last season Iowa defeated Northwestern 77-51. It was one of two Wildcats home losses.
