
Wildcats Drop Sunday Afternoon Contest to No. 16 Wolverines

EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern dropped a Top-25 matchup to No. 16 Michigan, 84-63, on Sunday afternoon at Welsh-Ryan Arena.
Junior Sydney Wood led the way for the Wildcats with 17 points to go along with a team-high seven rebounds. Wood was also effective from the free throw line all game, finishing 9-of-10.
Senior Lindsey Pulliam also finished the afternoon in double figures, scoring 14 points while grabbing four rebounds.
Michigan opened the game on a torrid shooting run, opening the game 74-percent from the field in the first half while knocking down their first six three-point attempts of the game to open up an early lead.
The Wildcats continued to battle coming out of the break, outscoring the Wolverines 21-16 in the third quarter and 17-13 in the fourth, including a 10-0 run to close out the game.
The 'Cats especially ramped up pressure on the defensive end in the second half, forcing 20 turnovers which they converted into 19 points on the other end.
Northwestern is back in action this Wednesday, January 6, as the 'Cats travel to Madison for a showdown with Wisconsin. Tip-off from the Kohl Center is scheduled for 3 p.m. CT.
