This Week With the 'Cats, January 27
Northwestern University athletics will have four programs in action this week. Two of which will be participating in their season-opening play.
Volleyball
Northwestern Volleyball travels to Lincoln this weekend to take on No. 5 Nebraska for a two-game set on Friday, Jan. 29 and Saturday, Jan. 30.
The 'Cats swept Rutgers in their season-opening series last weekend, winning both matches 3-0. Sophomore Temi Thomas-Ailara led the team with 29 kills over the two games with a .404 hitting percentage, while redshirt-sophomore Abryanna Cannon returned from injury to post four aces and 19 kills on a .472 hitting percentage. Junior Kiara McNulty collected a team-high 59 assists and three kills.

Men's Golf
Northwestern Men's Golf returns to competition for the first time since March 8, 2020 to take on Michigan State in Jacksonville, Fla on Sunday, Jan. 31.
The Wildcats are coming off a strong 2019-20 campaign, which saw them place in the top three in four out of their seven tournaments. Eight players return from last season's team, including preseason Big Ten honorees senior Eric McIntosh, junior David Nyfjall and sophomore James Imai.
Cross Country
The cross country team will head to Shelbyville, Ind. on Sunday, Jan. 31 for the Big Ten Championships.
This is the first event for the Wildcats since they participated in the BU Invitational and GVSU Big Meet on February 14, 2020. The 'Cats finished 13th in last year's Big Ten Championships.
Wrestling
Northwestern Wrestling will host Indiana and Penn State this Saturday, Jan. 30 for two matches. They will take on Indiana at 1 p.m. CT and Penn State at 3 p.m. CT.
The Wildcats are off to a 1-2 start to the season, having split two games against Maryland and Nebraska over last weekend. Chris Cannon and Yahya Thomas both went undefeated on the weekend, with Cannon picking up two victories at 133 lbs and Thomas winning both matches at 149 lbs.
