Spencer Named Sullivan Award Semifinalist

EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern graduate guard Pat Spencer was named a semifinalist for the 90th Amateur Athletic Union's (AAU) James E. Sullivan Award on Monday morning.
The AAU Sullivan Award has been given out since 1930 to the nation's best amateur athlete whose outstanding athletic accomplishments are complemented by qualities of leadership, character and sportsmanship.
Spencer is among a group of 33 collegiate athletes, world champions, gold medalists and national champions selected as semifinalists.

Spencer has made an immediate impact in his first season with the Wildcats. He has appeared in all 30 games and has made 28 starts while averaging 29.2 minutes per game. The Davidsonville, MD., native became just one of two Northwestern basketball players to average at least 10 points, 4.0 rebounds and 3.5 assists in a single season since 1990. Spencer ranks in the top-10 among Big Ten players for total assists (119) and assists per game (4.0).
Before his time at Northwestern, Spencer was a four-time All-American lacrosse standout at Loyola-Maryland where he became the first player in program history to win the prestigious Tewaaraton Award. He was a three-time finalist for the award.
Spencer is the NCAA Division I Lacrosse All-time leader in assists with 231 and is second with 380 career points. He set both conference and program records in his senior campaign with 65 assists and 114 points to earn his fourth Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year award.
