'Cats Finish Third at Desert Mountain

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - Sophomore David Nyfjäll and first year James Imai finished in the top-10 at the Desert Mountain Intercollegiate, helping the 'Cats earn a third place finish in a competitive field on Sunday afternoon.
FINAL RESULTS
Nyfjäll was off to a hot start in the first two rounds, carding rounds of 70 and 67 which placed him just three shots off the lead heading into the final round. After finishing 2-over on Sunday, he dropped to fourth. The Uppsala, Sweden native earned his fifth career top-5 finish and third this season.
Imai earned his first career top-10 finish after a solid three rounds. The rookie shot under par in the first two rounds, including a new career-low 70.
Junior Eric McIntosh finished in the top-25 for the ninth time in his career for a share of 21st place.
As a team, Northwestern shot 11-over for the third place finish. The Wildcats carded 47 birdies, the third most in the tournament. Vanderbilt took home both the team and individual titles.
Next up, Chicago's Big Ten Team will return home to prepare for The Goodwin in Palo Alto, Calif. beginning March 26.
