EVANSTON, Ill. - No. 23 Northwestern men's tennis will continue their home stretch this weekend with three matches against No. 47 Illinois, Notre Dame, and UIC.
The conference matchup with the Fighting Illini will take place at noon on Saturday, followed by a Sunday doubleheader against the Irish and the Flames at noon and 5:30 p.m., respectively.
Northwestern recently vaulted up to No. 23 in the rankings after a pair of impressive wins over then No. 7 Colombia and UIC last weekend. The 'Cats defeated the Lions 4-3 and swept the Flames 4-0 to move to 8-4 overall and 6-1 at home.
Three Wildcats will look to continue their momentum after having perfect weekends in singles play. Steven Forman rallied from a 2-5 deficit in the third set to earn the match-winning point against No. 7 Colombia, before prevailing in the No. 1 slot against UIC. Chris Ephron and Trice Pickens also finished 2-0 at No. 4 and No. 5 singles, respectively.
Four separate doubles pairings secured wins for the 'Cats last weekend. The duos of Nick Brookes/Simen Bratholm and Dominik Stary/Chris Ephron grabbed the doubles point against No. 7 Colombia, while Steven Forman/Natan Spear and Russell Berdusco/AJ Joshi both won against UIC.
No. 47 Illinois sits at 3-6 on the season, while Notre Dame holds a 6-6 record and UIC is 1-8.
