Under Armour Unveils 2020 'By The Players' Uniform

EVANSTON, Ill. — Northwestern basketball and Under Armour unveiled the fourth edition of the 'By The Players' uniform Thursday in advance of the 'Cats regular-season finale on Saturday, March 7. The annual process is a collaboration between Wildcats senior student-athletes and Under Armour's design team to create the uniform the 'Cats will wear on Senior Day.
IN THE DETAILS:
• Northwestern's 2020 senior class of Tino Malnati (Northfield, Ill.), Pat Spencer (Davidsonville, Md.) and A.J. Turner (Mt. Clemens, Mich.) met with Under Armour in November of 2019 to develop the uniform concept.
• The "city-inspired" theme pays homage to Chicago. While all three student-athletes hail from different backgrounds but the city of Chicago was a common factor in what brought them to Northwestern.
• The Chicago skyline is prominent throughout the uniform. It can be seen on the front of the warm-up shirt and inside the word "Wildcats" on the front of the jersey.
• The uniform features nods to the city's Windy City nickname: The motion-style text throughout and the two-toned gradient on the warm-up shirt fades from purple to white to skyline.
• The vibrant lavender trim highlights the uniform like the city lights of the downtown skyline.
• Triangles can be seen on the trim of the shorts that reflect the familiar aerial image of the city's beaches along Lake Shore Drive.
• The word 'FAMILY' is featured across the back of the warm-up shirt and the program's motto of "Pound The Rock" is stitched on the sleeve.
• This is the first purple 'By The Player' uniform.
Chicago's Big Ten Team hosts No. 20 Penn State on Saturday, March 7, at Welsh-Ryan Arena. Fans are asked to be in their seats no later than 2:30 p.m. CT for the planned Senior Day celebration honoring Malnati, Spencera and Turner.
