#7 'Cats Ready to Face #22 Penn State in Big Ten Opener

NASHVILLE, TN. – No. 7 Northwestern will head to Nashville on Friday to open up Big Ten play against Penn State at Vanderbilt University. The draw is set for 1 p.m.
The 'Cats are coming off an impressive game against No. 1 North Carolina. While the Wildcats narrowly dropped the match, 20-18, they turned heads with their dominant performance on both ends of the field.
Sophomore Izzy Scane led the charge on the offensive end, finding the back of the net eight times, just one behind Selena Lasota's single game program record. On the defensive end, sophomore Madison Doucette led the field with 11 saves, matching her career high set against Syracuse earlier this season.
Northwestern still leads the nation in scoring offense with 22.17 goals per game. The Wildcats now also top the leader board in free position percentage, points, draw controls and shot percentage.
The Wildcats currently sit 4-3 on the season, while Penn State holds a 5-2 record. However, the Lions have been unable to grab a win against a ranked opponent, dropping matches to then No. 5 Loyola and then No. 16 James Madison.
Through seven games, Penn State has scored a total of 96 goals, averaging 13.7 per game. Meanwhile Northwestern boasts 151 goals on the season and averages 21.6 per game.
After their trip to Nashville, the 'Cats will return home for their first game of the season at Martin Stadium against Johns Hopkins on Saturday, March 21 which is set for noon.
