LINCOLN, Neb. – Northwestern fought hard in its second road test of the season but was unable to hold on after a late second half comeback, falling at the buzzer to Nebraska 65-63.

Senior Lindsey Pulliam led the 'Cats with 19 points to bring her career total of 1,712 points, moving her into sixth place all-time in program history. Junior Veronica Burton also moved up in the record books, grabbing 6 steals for a career total of 205 moving her into fifth place all-time.

Four starters found double digits including Pulliam's 19. Burton came up with 15 while adding five assists, five rebounds and a career-high six steals. Junior Sydney Wood and senior Jordan Hamilton each added 12 points apiece.

Pulliam got off to a hot start, scoring five on the first two Wildcat possessions. Nebraska responded quickly and earned an early lead fueled by a solid performance beyond the arc. By the end of the quarter, the 'Cats found their stride and were able to beat the Huskers on turnovers to take the lead, 21-19.

Northwestern pushed the pace early in the second frame, continuing their success off turnovers. Nebraska punched back, beating the 'Cats at the glass and grabbing 11 second-chance points. The two teams traded blows to end the half 38-36, with Northwestern holding onto their lead.

The third quarter opened with a three minute scoring drought for both teams. Northwestern got the ball into the paint and found success at the charity stripe. They were unable to convert from the field and Nebraska took the lead 49-45.

Northwestern slowly chipped away at Nebraska's lead in the final quarter kicked off by a huge three from Hamilton. The 'Cats were able to overcome their shooting struggles and Hamilton was able to tie it up twice in the final two minutes of the game. Unfortunately, the Huskers were able to come up with a buzzer beater and take the game.

The 'Cats will return to Evanston to face Michigan at Welsh-Ryan Arena on Sunday at 4 p.m. CT. The game will be televised on ESPN2.
