Wildcats Ranked No. 19 in AP Poll

EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern men's basketball made its season debut at No. 19 on this week's Associated Press poll, released Monday by the outlet.
This marks the first time the Wildcats have been ranked since they were placed 20th on Nov. 13, 2017. It is the highest the program have been ranked since opening the 2017-18 season at No. 19.
This is the third season in which Northwestern has been ranked under coach Chris Collins, also claiming a spot in the AP Poll in the 2016-17 and 2017-18 seasons. Northwestern's No. 19 ranking is its highest this late in a season since 1969.
Northwestern is off to a hot 6-1 start to its 2020-21 campaign, opening Big Ten play at 3-0 for the first time since the 1967-68 season.
The Wildcats opened the season with a 3-1 record in non-conference play, including 100-point scoring totals against Chicago State and Quincy. The 'Cats began Big Ten play by upsetting No. 4 Michigan State, 79-65, and followed that up with a road-win at Indiana. Last time out, Northwestern took down No. 23 Ohio State by a score of 71-70 to grab its second-ranked win of the season in a span of six days.
Led by juniors Miller Kopp (15.1 points per game, .571 3P%) and Pete Nance (10.6 points per game, 6.9 rebounds per game) the Wildcats offense is averaging over 85 points per contest. Sophomores Boo Buie, averaging 14.4 points and 5.3 assists per game, and Chase Audige, averaging 12.9 points per game, have helped the Wildcats take a step forward this season.
Northwestern returns to the court on Tuesday night at 8 p.m. CT as they take on #10 Iowa on FS1.
