EVANSTON, Ill. — Northwestern University Department of Athletics and Recreation is mourning the loss of legendary, long-time equipment manager Bill Jarvis.

Jarvis served Northwestern Athletics with pride for over 35 years. In recognition of his dedicated service to Northwestern, the athletic equipment room at Ryan Field was renamed in his honor on November 13, 2010. He was named the All-American Football Foundation's Outstanding Equipment manager In 2002.

Jarvis earned the Athletic Equipment Managers Association Lifetime Achievement Award in 2014.

A 1970 graduate of Ashland (Ohio) College, Jarvis served as the equipment manager at his alma mater for six years before coming to NU. He was named the District 5 Equipment Manager of the Year in 1995, and served on the All-American Advisory Board, which suggests safety changes for athletic equipment.

Services will be held at the Snyder Funeral Home in Bellville, Ohio on Monday November 9; with visitation at 11:00 and a graveside service will follow at 2pm at the "Owl Creek Church of the Brethren" in Ankenytown, Ohio.
