EVANSTON, Ill. – No. 15 Northwestern will continue its Big Ten campaign at 1:30 p.m. CT on Saturday afternoon when the Wildcats host Indiana at Welsh-Ryan Arena. The action can be seen live on BTN.

Saturday also marks Alumni Day for the Wildcats, as head coach Matt Storniolo is excited to welcome back many former Wildcat grapplers to honor the past and present of Northwestern Wrestling.

Early arriving fans will receive BTN rally towels for the dual, along with free pizza provided by Giordano's.

Quick Notes:

  • The Wildcats have five wrestlers currently sitting in the Top 10 of this week's Track Wrestling rankings … Ryan Deakin sits at No. 1 at 157 lbs, Sebastian Rivera is No. 3 at 133 lbs, Michael DeAugustino is No. 6 at 125 lbs, while Lucas Davison and Yahya Thomas both join them at No. 9 in the 197 lb and 149 lb divisions, respectively).

  • Redshirt first-year Lucas Davison is coming off a banner weekend in which he faced off against Purdue's No. 2 Christian Brunner for the third time this season, securing a 4-2 decision in sudden victory. Later that weekend, Davison also notched a 7-5 win against 2017 All-American Shakur Rasheed (Penn State). The Chesterton, Indiana native currently defends an 8-4 record on the season and is 5-0 on duals and 2-0 record in conference matches.

  • The last time the 'Cats stepped on the mat with the Hoosiers was in Bloomington during the 2017-2018 season, when Northwestern bested Indiana, 27-12. Dating back to 2011, the Wildcats have won six of their last seven duals against the Hoosiers.

  • Ryan Deakin is currently 10-0 on the season and 5-0 in duals ... He has not trailed at any point in his last four bouts, and has only trailed for 2:52 the entire season (all in his match vs. Jacori Teemer, Arizona State).
    • In his first action since being ranked as the consensus No. 1 wrestler at 157 lbs, Deakin did not allow a single point in two bouts, defeating No. 8 Kendall Coleman (Purdue), 14-0, and Bo Pipher (Penn State), 6-0.
    • Deakin's win over Coleman on Friday marked his third-consecutive bout against a Top-10 opponent at 157 lbs dating back to the CKLV (he defeated then-No. 2 ranked David Carr from Iowa State in the CKLV Semis and then No. 1-ranked Hayden Hidlay in the CKLV finals).
    • Of five dual victories this season, three have come by major decision, one by fall and one by decision.
    • Deakin has a history of beating wrestlers…In the 2018-2019 season, Ryan defeated No. 3 Larry Early (Old Dominion) in the beginning of the season, followed No. 6 Ke-Shawn Hayes (Ohio State) and No. 5 Alec Pantaleo (Michigan) later on.

  • Redshirt first-year Michael DeAugustino burst onto the national scene in December with stellar performances in two of the biggest non-conference tournaments in NCAA Wrestling. First, he placed third in the 125 lb division at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational after going 5-1 as an unranked seed with wins over two top-10 seeds. Later in the month, he finished second in the annual Ken Kraft Midlands Championships, winning his first four matches to advance to the championship round. This was a second-straight Midlands in which a Wildcat wrestled in the 125 lb championship (Rivera in 2018).

Potential Bouts to Watch:

  • 125 - #8 Michael DeAugustino vs. Liam Cronin
    • Cronin and DeAugustino have faced off one previous time in their careers, with Cronin winning a 3-2 decision last season at the 2018 Cleveland State open.
  • 174 - Tyler Morland vs. Jacob Covaciu
    • These two were slated to face off during this season's Midlands Championships, however Morland had to take a medical forfeit.
  • 197 - Lucas Davison vs. Nick Willham
    • Should they wrestle, this would be the first-ever meeting between the two wrestlers.
