EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern took on Ohio State Saturday afternoon in a hard-fought Big Ten battle that ended in a draw after two overtime periods. Chicago's Big Ten Team outshot the Buckeyes, 8-5 in regulation but could not find the elusive game-winner. The shutout game was the third of the season for the Northwestern defense.
"I thought it was a good Big Ten game," said Head Coach Tim Lenahan. "I thought we played well but we got to make sure we get our draw, Ohio State was on us in the second overtime and we still generated chances."
Senior Matt Moderwell led the Wildcats with four shots in his 98 minutes of play. The Lake Forest, Ill. native leads Northwestern with eight points on the season.
Once again, the Northwestern defense kept its opponents from creating chances, limiting Ohio State to just one shot in the second half and a complete shutout in the first overtime.
Junior goalkeeper Miha Miskovic finished the match with three saves, bringing his season total to 26.
Northwestern will be back in action on Tuesday, Oct.1, Big Ten foe, No. 5 Indiana. The match is set for a 7 p.m. kickoff at Martin Stadium at Big Ten Network. Tickets can be found here.
