EVANSTON, IL – Northwestern bested American University, 3-1 in their final game of the Blue Devil Classic in Durham, NC.
The Wildcats were led by first-year Temi Thomas-Ailara, who tallied 32 kills while hitting a .458 clip and also contributed 12 digs, two blocks and two serving aces. The 32 kills from Thomas-Ailara is the most of any Wildcat in four sets and the most of any first-year in program history.
Northwestern closed out the Blue Devil Classic, 2-0 with back-to-back wins against host Duke and American.
The Wildcats will take the court next week against crosstown rivals in the Chicago Cup hosted by DePaul, starting with Loyola on September 20.

- Thomas-Ailara ranked top-five in six stat categories for the 'Cats including kills (1st), hitting pct. (2nd), assists (4th), serving aces (T-1st), blocks (4th) and digs (T-2nd)
- Senior Payton Chang contributed 41 of the 'Cats 53 assists… this marks her sixth 30+ assist game this season
- The Wildcats had three players with multiple serving aces including senior Allie Lindroth, junior Nia Robinson and Thomas- Ailara.
- Junior Alana Walker notched four of the 'Cats 13 blocks against American… this is the Chicago natives 8th multiple block game this season
- The 'Cats had four players with double digit digs including Lindroth (17), Thomas-Ailara (12), first-year Charlotte Cronister (12) and Chang (11)
