2019 Schedule
EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern Volleyball announced its schedule for the 2019 season Wednesday, which will include 10 conference games and the Northwestern Under Armour Tournament hosted at Welsh-Ryan Arena.
The Wildcats schedule will feature four non-conference tournaments including the Miami (Ohio) Tournament (Aug 30-31) where the 'Cats will face South Carolina, Virginia Tech and Ohio, the Northwestern Under Armour Tournament (Sept 6-7) where NU will host Texas Tech, Austin Peay and Stephen F. Austin, a tournament hosted by Duke (Sept 13-14) where the #B1GCats will match up against Duke, Georgia and American University and the annual Chicago Cup (Sept 20-21) where Chicago's Big Ten Team will face off against crosstown rivals UIC, Loyola and host DePaul.
The 'Cats will begin Big Ten play against Iowa and Nebraska on September 27 and 28 at Welsh-Ryan Arena. In the 2019 season, the #B1GCats will face off against six teams that finished top-20 in the 2019 AVCA Coaches Poll.
Northwestern will return 17 players from last year including Nia Robinson and Abryanna Cannon who combined for over 630 kills to lead the 'Cats on offense. NU will also return top blocker, Alana Walker and digs leader Michelle Lee.
The 2019 roster will also feature four incoming first-years including first-team Under Armour All-American Temi Thomas-Ailara, Under Armour Honorable Mention recipients Desiree Becker and Charlotte Cronister and NYAIS Champion Olivia Haskins. NU will also welcome graduate transfer Payton Chang who will join the roster after being apart of Stanford's 2016 and 2018 National Championships teams.
