
Northwestern Drops Sunday Showdown to Michigan State

EVANSTON, Ill. — No. 25 Northwestern fell to Michigan State, 4-3, Sunday afternoon at the Combe Tennis Center.
The Wildcats move to 11-7 on the campaign and 5-2 in Big Ten play.
Northwestern secured the doubles point thanks to wins by Clarissa Hand and Lee Or and Rheeya Doshi and Inci Ogut. The duo of Hand and Or picked up a 7-5 win at No. 1, while Doshi and Ogut earned a 6-3 decision at No. 3.
Michigan State pulled even when Davina Nguyen topped Caroline Pozo at No. 3 singles.
Rheeya Doshi put NU back in front with a 6-4, 6-4, win at No. 5 singles, before Lee Or picked up her second win of the weekend with a 7-5, 6-4, win at No. 4.
The Spartans claimed a three-set victory at No. 1 singles to pull within one, 3-2. MSU won the final two singles matches at No. 2 and No. 6 singles to rally for the win.
Northwestern returns to action next weekend with a pair of road matches. The Wildcats battle Minnesota on Friday, April 12, before heading to Wisconsin on Sunday.
