'Cats Drop 4-3 Decision at Minnesota Friday Night

MINNEAPOLIS — No. 29 Northwestern captured the doubles point, but it was not enough as Minnesota rallied in singles play to top the Wildcats, 4-3, Friday evening in Minneapolis.
Northwestern moves to 11-8 on the season and 5-3 in conference play.
The Wildcats went with a new lineup during doubles play. Rheeya Doshi and Clarissa Hand paired up at the No. 2 spot for a 7-5 win, while Inci Ogut and Lee Or picked up a 6-3 win at No. 3.
Lee Or won her seventh straight singles match to build NU's lead to 2-0. She topped Cammy Frei in straight sets, 6-4, 6-1, at the No. 3 position.
The Gophers got on the board by winning at No. 4, but Julie Byrne extended NU's lead with a 6-3, 6-3, win at No. 2. Doshi battled to three sets at No. 5, but couldn't hold off Minnesota's River Hart.
With Northwestern leading, 3-2, Minnesota pulled off victories at No. 1 and No. 6 to claim the match.
The Wildcats return to action on Sunday, April 14, to face Wisconsin in Madison at 11 a.m. CT.
