
'Cats Defeat Penn State, 4-2, on Senior Day

EVANSTON, Ill. — Northwestern wrapped up their regular season with a convincing 5-2 win over Penn State on Sunday afternoon at Vandy Christie Tennis Center.
The Wildcats concluded the campaign with a 14-9 overall record and 7-4 mark in conference play.
Northwestern took a highly contested doubles point, coming back from a loss at No. 3 with close wins at No. 1 and No. 2. Julie Byrne and Hannah McColgan secured a 6-4 victory at the No. 2 slot, the duo's 13th victory together on the season. Clarissa Hand and Lee Or clinched the point by defeating their opponents in a tiebreak, 7-6 (8-6).
Byrne kept the momentum going with her team-leading 17th singles win of the campaign, a dominant 6-1, 6-0 performance at No. 2. No. 40 Hand extended the lead by taking her match at No. 1 easily as well, 6-1, 6-4.
After Rheeya Doshi dropped a match, Carol Finke battled to a 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 victory in her final collegiate match to clinch the win for the 'Cats. The graduate student finished with a 9-3 record in singles play on the season.
Next up for Northwestern is the Big Ten Tournament which will take place from April 25-28 in Lincoln, Nebraska.
