‘Cats Best Harvard 4-3, Get Set for Sunday Doubleheader

EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern claimed their fourth win of the season, taking down the Harvard Crimson 4-3.
From the first serve, Northwestern began the day strong claiming the first point of the match. Doubles team of Antonioni Fasano and Trice Pickens were the first team to six, beating Chris Morrow and Lucas Koelle of Harvard 6-3 playing in the No.3 position. At No. 1 doubles, Simen Bratholm and Nick Brookes clinched the doubles point for the 'Cats defeating the team of Andy Zhou and Logan Weber 6-4.
In singles play, Bratholm doubled the score for the 'Cats and secured the first singles win of the day in the No. 5 position. He made quick work of his opponent defeating Lucas Koelle in two sets 6-3,6-2.
Brookes brought NU within one point of clinching the match with a win at the No. 2 position. He defeated No. 71 ranked Robert Wrzesinski in two sets, 6-4,6-2.
No. 115 Stary and Zhou traded points in a second set tie breaker, before a dominant final push to take the set 6-1, 6-2 (7-2) to clinch the match for the Wildcats 4-0.
With three matches to go, the decision was made to play out the final matches at the No.3, No.4 and No. 6 positions.
Chicago's Big Ten Team will be back in action tomorrow at noon at the Combe Tennis Center, as they take on Purdue for their first Big Ten match of the season. The 'Cats will then head across town to take on Chicago State in their final match of the weekend starting at 6:30 p.m. at H-F Racquet and Fitness Center.
