EVANSTON, Ill. – No. 41 Northwestern heads to Bloomington, Indiana to take on the Hoosiers in the second of four straight road matches.
The Wildcats look to rebound after a tough battle at No. 10 Columbia last Sunday. Northwestern's No. 1 doubles team of Nick Brookes and Simon Bratholm led the 12th-ranked doubles team in the nation, 6-4, before falling in a tiebreaker, while the team of Chris Ephron and Dominik Stary fought to a 6-6 tie at No. 2 when the double's point was decided.
In singles play, Dominik Stary and Chris Ephron each battled back from first-set defeats to force a decisive third set. Stary fell short in the final set against the No. 65 player in the nation, and Ephron was edged out, 10-8, in a 10-point superset.
Despite the loss, the 'Cats moved up to No. 41 in the ITA team rankings and remain 8-2 in their last 10 matches.
This will be the second Big Ten matchup for the Wildcats, who won their first conference match over Purdue, 5-2. The Hoosiers enter the match at 5-6 on the season and 1-0 in conference play. They are coming off a 4-2 victory over Purdue last Saturday. The 'Cats have won the last seven matches against the Hoosiers dating back to 2013.
Live stats and live stream will both be available.
