Northwestern Knocks Off Boston College in B1G/ACC Challenge

EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern grabbed a bounce back victory over Boston College by a score of 66-63 in Wednesday evening's game at Welsh Ryan Arena.
The 'Cats moved to 6-1 with the victory in the Big Ten/ACC Women's Basketball Challenge. It was part of a five-team sweep on the night of the ACC as the Big Ten looks for its first ever win in the Challenge.
The Wildcats closed out the first half leading 34-30. Junior Lindsey Pulliam led the #B1GCats with 12 points and no turnovers while sophomore Veronica Burton facilitated with five assists and a steal. Senior Byrdy Galernik also impressed with 6 points on 3-of-5 shooting. The 'Cats stellar defense was on display in the first half, forcing 12 Boston College turnovers.
The Wildcats never trailed in the second half, with Pulliam leading the 'Cats with 13 points and five rebounds. Galernik was right behind Pulliam with seven points and an assist.
Overall, Pulliam led the team with 25 points and five rebounds on the night. The Maryland native shot an impressive 10-for-16 from the field. Coming off a career high 16 points against DePaul, Galernik put together another strong game with 13 points on 5-of-9 shooting in 16 minutes off the bench.
Sophomore Veronica Burton continued her elite defensive season with another three steals in the game. Burton has collected three or more steals in six of the 'Cats seven games this season and leads the Big Ten with 3.9 steals per game.
The Wildcats will be back in action on Saturday as they host Dartmouth at Welsh Ryan Arena. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m.
