HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill. — The best tournament of the collegiate season has returned, the Midlands Championships presented by the United States Marine Corps is set for its 57th iteration this December 29-30. Once again, the showcase will be held at the Sears Centre Arena in Hoffman Estates, Illinois. As always, wrestlers among the nation's best programs look to etch their name in the Midlands record books.
SESSION FOUR
Iowa won its 29th team title and their seventh in a row, tallying a new tournament record 196.5 team points. Eight of the champions were first-time winners. Find notes from the session here.
SESSION THREE
After sending 10 to the semifinals, Iowa will send a tournament-best seven wrestlers to the finals tonight. Seven number one seeds will be wrestling in the finals tonight. Find notes from the session here.
SESSION TWO
Iowa leads the way with 10 wrestlers in the semifinals. All No. 1 seeds remain alive heading to the semis, with the exception of 157 lbs. Find notes from the session here.
SESSION ONE
Iowa leads with 52 points after sending 12 grapplers to the quarterfinals. Austin O'Connor was the individual high scorer of the session with 65 points, while Alex Marinelli (Iowa) led all wrestlers with three falls in his first three matches. Find notes from the session here.
SUNDAY, DECEMBER 29
- 9:30 AM – First Session (10 Mats) – (Championship Rounds 1 & 2, Wrestlebacks)
- 7:00 PM – Second Session (10 Mats) – (Quarterfinals, Wrestlebacks)
MONDAY, DECEMBER 30
- 12:00 PM – Third Session (5 Mats) – (Semis, consolation, 7th place match)
- 7:00 PM – Fourth Session (3 Mats) – (1st, 3rd, 5th place matches)
- Opening ceremonies at 6:30 p.m., Awards ceremony to conclude at 9:15 p.m.
- Midlands Hall of Fame Inductions will be prior to the final session
HALL OF FAME
Three will be added to the Midlands Championships Hall of Fame on Sunday before the final session, including four-time Midlands champion and, current Wisconsin head coach Chris Bono, along with tournament administrators Jim Cartwright and Mike Manahan.
