EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern will host Colgate on Wednesday afternoon in the second matchup of the six-game homestand. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. CT at Welsh-Ryan Arena.
The 'Cats are heading into the week 4-0 after a dominating 69-48 win over Valpo. This victory marks the fourth consecutive game the Wildcats have scored over 60 points. Abi Scheid, Veronica Burton, Byrdy Galernik and Abbie Wolf all posted double-digit points, marking Wolf's fourth straight double-digit showing.
On defense, Wolf led the Wildcats with nine rebounds and a career high three blocks. Burton and Sydney Wood grabbed three steals each, securing Burton's No. 1 rank in the Big Ten in steals. The 'Cats held the Crusaders to 34.8 percent shooting from the field and 24 percent from deep. The Wildcats held the Crusaders to only three points in the third quarter and took advantage of 15 fast break points.
This matchup against Colgate is the first time the Wildcats have faced the Raiders in program history. The 'Cats have never lost to a Patriot League team in program history, with winning records against Lafayette and Holy Cross.
Colgate enters Evanston 5-1 on the season, coming off a loss against Saint Louis. The Raiders average 70.8 points per game and shoot .740 percent behind the charity stripe. Colgate averages 11 turnovers per game, and the 'Cats have capitalized on an average of 19.5 points off turnovers per game.
