Northwestern Battles Back For Runner-Up Finish at Erin Hills

ERIN HILLS, Wisc. - The Northwestern men's golf team posted a 13-under 275 score in the final round of the Marquette Intercollegiate at Erin Hills, topping their record breaking 12-under performance from the year before.
Final Scores
The Wildcats had a hard-charging final day at the site of the 2017 U.S. Open. Northwestern entered the round tied for fourth (+6). After a wire-to-wire 18 holes, Northwestern finished just two strokes back for the runner-up finish. The Purdue Boilermakers took home the team championship while USF's Luke Gifford and Marquette's Hunter Eichhorn earned co-medalist honors.
Three Wildcats placed in the top-20 of the individual leaderboard.
First-year John Driscoll III carded a team-low 66, recording seven birdies and a bogey-free front nine to tie for 17th .Tuesday's round marks Driscoll's first top-20 finish of his collegiate career. His 6-under day enters the Marquette Intercollegiate record book as the second lowest individual round.
Junior Eric McIntosh finished tied for 7th after a bogey-free day at 4-under 68, tied for a career best.
Sophomore David Nyfjäll earned his first top-5 finish of the season, carding 4-under for the tournament for a share of fifth place.
Chicago's Big Ten Team will wrap up their fall slate in Carmel, IN. at the Crooked Stick Collegiate, Oct. 14 – 15.
