COLUMBUS, Ohio – Northwestern came back for a double overtime draw at Ohio State on Thursday night for an important road point in the race for the Big Ten Tournament.
After conceding in the 30th minute, Northwestern roared back for a dominant second half. First year fullback Marianna Annest put the 'Cats on the board with her first career goal, a rocket from 25 yards out into the top left corner to tie it at 1-1.
The Wildcats controlled both overtimes and first year Lily Gilbertson nearly snatched the winning goal at the end of the first period. With less than a minute left the 'Cats had a golden opportunity in front of net but could not poke it home.
NU moves to 3-3-2 in conference and remains at .500. Head coach Michael Moynihan's side now has 11 points with three games left to play after starting the night in sixth place. The top eight teams make the Big Ten Tournament.
The 'Cats continue their final road trip of the season at Penn State on Sunday. Kickoff is set for 11 a.m. CT
