Records Fall at SMU Invite

DALLAS, TX – Northwestern set multiple records during 2019 SMU Invite in Dallas, Texas, finishing third with 315 team points.
 
The Wildcats opened the meet with second place finish in the 400 medley relay with a time of 3:35.47. The relay team of Calypso Sheridan, Hannah Brunzell, Miriam Guevara and Malorie Han opened the season just two seconds off of the school record set in 2019 by Sheridan, Angus, Guevara and Han.
 
Sheridan was right back in the pool for the 400 IM where the junior dropped the nation leading time of 4:05.33 to claim the win and break the meet record. The Australian native also won 100 back in a time of 52.85 for 16 team points.
 
In her first individual event as a Wildcat, first-year Brunzell out touched her competition in the 100 breast to capture her first collegiate win and 16 team points.
 
The 'Cats kicked off day two winning the 200 medley relay in a time of 1:37.93. The team of Sheridan, Brunzell, Guevara and Smith touched in just a second over the previous school record which was set last year by Sheridan, Angus, Guevara and Han.  
 
Brunzell took home her second collegiate victory in the 200 breast, touching in a time of 2:10.22 to score 16 points for the overall team race. Sophomore Tara Vovk also won her heat of the 200 breast in a time of 2:13.16.
 
In true Sheridan fashion, the All-American brought home two wins on day two in the 200 back and 200 IM. In the 200 back, the junior broke her own school record by almost two second before taking the 200 IM in a time of 1:56.57.
 
The 'Cats ended the day with a fourth place finish in the 200 free relay in a time of 1:33.25
 
After earning five first place finished and one runner-up, Sheridan was awarded meet MVP, contributing 64 individual points and 44 relay point to the 'Cats third place finish
