Stanford, Ca. — After the first round of the Stanford Intercollegiate, sophomore Kelly Sim tops the Northwestern leaderboard with a score of 1-under, 70. She is tied for ninth in the tournament in a 90-player field.

Sim started off the day with four straight pars, before sinking her first of four birdies on the Par-4 fourth hole. She took a bogey on the fifth, but bounced right back with her second birdie of the round on the next hole, holding her score at 1-under. This was Sim's third under-par round of the season.

Senior Brooke Riley, finishing tied for 33rd with a score of 2-over, 73, tied for third in the field in birdies, tallying up five. Riley carded three birdies on Par-5 holes, giving her a third place spot in the field on Par-5s.

Sophomore Irene Kim concluded the day tied for 33rd as well, while sophomore Jane Lu and junior Julia Tournant finished up tied for 74th and 86th, respectively.

Northwestern closed out the day at 9-over for the round, ranking 11th in the tournament. They take to the course again tomorrow for the second round of three.
