EVANSTON, Ill. - Sophomore guard Lindsey Pulliam and senior forward Pallas Kunaiyi-Akpanah each scored double-digit points in a nail biting finish as Purdue outlasted Northwestern, 57-54 Sunday night in Welsh-Ryan Arena.
Northwestern overcame an 11-point halftime deficit to take Purdue down to the final seconds. Lindsey Pulliam hit a clutch ten-foot jumper with 17 seconds left to bring the Wildcats within one. A turnover by Purdue on the inbound pass gave the Wildcats a chance to reclaim the lead, but this time, the Pulliam jumper rattled in and out in the final seconds.
Pulliam scored 15 points with four assists and two takeaways. Her double-digit performance lengthened her streak to 15 straight double-digit games, the longest of her career.
Pallas Kunaiyi-Akpanah notched her eighth double-double of the season with 13 points and 14 rebounds, including six offensive boards. The senior captain's eight double-doubles place her second in the conference and 22nd in the country for double-doubles recorded this season.
Sophomore Jordan Hamilton led the team with six assists, tying her high for the season. The guard added eight points and three rebounds.
Northwestern continued to play stifling defense, forcing Purdue into 17 turnovers on nine steals. The Wildcats sit at second in the conference with a +4.1 turnover ratio.
The #B1GCats are now 9-7 overall and have a 2-3 mark in conference play.
