'Cats Claim Five Singles Victories and Pair of Doubles Wins on Day Two of Miami Invite

CORAL GABLES, Fla. — No. 19 Northwestern picked up five singles wins against Kentucky before splitting doubles matches with No. 17 Miami on day two of the Miami Spring Invite.
 
Julie Byrne picked up her second singles victory of the weekend when she defeated Lesedi Jacobs, 6-4, 6-4. After dropping the open set, Caroline Pozo rallied to beat Diana Tkachenko, 2-6, 6-3, 6-2, for her second straight singles victory.
 
Caroline Finke and Vanessa Streng also moved to 2-0 on the weekend by winning their respective matches in three sets.
 
The tandem of Clarissa Hand and Lee Or teamed up for a ranked win over Miami's Yuna Ito and Ulyana Shirokova, 6-2. Inci Ogut and Pozo claimed NU's other doubles victory with a 6-4 decision.
 
The Wildcats wrap up the Miami Spring Invite tomorrow with singles against No. 2 Vanderbilt at 8 a.m. CT followed by doubles against Kentucky at 11 a.m. CT.
