EVANSTON, Ill. -- Miha Miskovic came up with six big saves, but Northwestern fell to No. 19 Michigan, 2-0.
The Wildcats (4-4-2, 0-3-1 Big Ten) had the better of the chances in the second half, putting two shots on goal and consistently threatening the box. Michigan (7-1-1, 3-0-1 Big Ten) scored two in the first half, but was held in check thereafter, with just a pair of shots after the 38th minute.
Northwestern had success playing down the left midway through the second half. Matt Moderwell bent in a cross to the back post in the 57th, but it was just out of the reach of a sliding Garrett Opperman. A couple minutes later Moderwell again put a ball into the mixer, but none of the Wildcats were able to pounce.
Mattias Tomasino and Ty Seager each created late chances of their own, but both were denied by quality saves.
The Wildcats' homestand continues with three more matches in the next two weeks. Northwestern plays host to Notre Dame on Tuesday, October 2nd at 7 p.m.. The following weekend, Northwestern has a pair of matchups against Penn State and DePaul, on the sixth and ninth respectively.
