NU Collects Road Point in Double-OT Draw at Ohio State

9/21/2018 9:29:00 PM | Men's Soccer

COLUMBUS, Ohio — In its fifth extra-time contest of the season, Northwestern (4-2-2, 0-1-1 Big Ten) played to a 0-0 double-overtime draw against Ohio State (1-5-2, 0-1-1 Big Ten) on Friday night.

"Full credit to Ohio State," said head coach Tim Lenahan. "They played very well with 10 men and we were really unable to break them down. That being said, road results are very hard to get in this league and a road shutout even more difficult, so proud of our effort. We will recharge tomorrow before getting ready for Indiana on Tuesday."

In a defensive battle, goalkeeper Miha Miskovic was two-for-two on saves in the contest. The Wildcat defense limited the Buckeyes to eight shots in the 110-minute tilt, compared to NU's nine shots.

Chicago's Big Ten Team had seven corners compared to Ohio State's four.

In the first overtime period, the Wildcats had their best scoring chance with a 93rd-minute opportunity from Camden Buescher. The shot was saved by the Ohio State goalkeeper.

Chicago's Big Ten Team was given a prime opportunity in the early minutes of the second half as Ohio State's Devyn Etling earned a red card in the 52nd minute. The Buckeyes played 10-man soccer for the remainder of the contest.

The Buckeyes had perhaps their best chance of the contest in the 83rd minute, but Ohio State's Joshua Jackson-Ketchup's shot was met with a miraculous save by Miskovic to keep the tilt scoreless.

The 'Cats, in the midst of four-straight games against Big Ten opponents, are back in action against Indiana on Tuesday, Sept. 25 in Bloomington, Indiana.
