No. 11 'Cats Frustrated at No. 8 Louisville

Β LOUISVILLE, Ky. βΒ No. 11 Northwestern came up just short on the road against No. 8 Louisville in a 1-0 defeat on Sunday.Β

The Wildcats moved to 5-4 on the season and split their matchups this weekend, previously defeating Indiana 2-1 on Friday.Β

The 'Cats had six penalty corners in the match compared to five for the Cardinals, and all six came in the first half.Β

Junior goalkeeper Annie Kalfas started in net for the Wildcats and made four saves in just over 65 minutes of play.Β

Senior Puck Pentenga led the team with two shots including one on goal. Sophomore Kaitlin Wood recorded the team's other shot on goal.Β

Northwestern had the better possession in the opening 20 minutes, creating three penalty corners. Louisville scored the game's lone goal on their second corner on a shot that deflected in the net.Β

The #B1GCats labored for three more corners in the half but only came away with one shot, which was blocked.Β
